Natrium42 has delivered a nice piece of hardware. So far I had no found problems in getting DSerial to work. I think it is nice device for hobbyists only.
Like said before the USB port on DSerial is not a host device, so no usb devices can be connected to it because it is acting a a device itself. The only other drawback is that the device has no plastic cover and feels fragile while inserted in the DS slot. However Dserial2 is in the making which does have a plastic cover and looks less fragile.
At the time of writing the project currently lacks proper documentation. Software (DSerial firmware and DS code) is also incomplete but being developed rapidly. And with a fresh community (DSerial forum and DSerial wiki) dedicated to DSerial it should not take long for the software and documentation to get complete.
